Are you limiting your true self by the labels you use?

What do you do- the labels and name game?

Labels! F*cking labels..!!! Ever have those days when you constantly get asked to define yourself? Everyone and I mean everyone I have ever met, spoken to online or on the phone has asked that one question…What do you do? It’s almost as bad as asking someone what the weather is like where they are.

The majority of residents of the United Kingdom, especially the English have a fixation with the weather…

When we ask a person what the weather is like where they are or discuss the weather when we meet people in the street it is as if we need to grasp a mutual topic to get the conversation going or to prevent it from drying up…

Oh, dear! We have arrived at the weather question, again.

It is the same with labels and being asked what we do….imagine a situation, and I’m sure you have been in something similar… you are at a gathering of people, some of them new some not so new…a person takes your arm and introduces you to a stranger.

It is interesting how often we automatically try to fit in with everyone else…not wanting to be different….not wanting to be a square peg.

“Hi, Person A this is Person B, Person B is a (insert job) and Person A is a (insert job)”

Then the conversation starts off with talking about jobs, what they do, hobbies, and other such stuff…all connected to labels…

Maybe we should go to parties with labels stuck to our chest with our name, occupation, and everything else that can be labelled.

We have become obsessed with labels as much as the weather.

And now we are inventing new labels to give ourselves….all because it is something that society cries out for.

Are we trying to fit in or are we crying out to be different by giving ourselves bizarre labels?

A few months ago I heard a woman call herself something really weird, yet it made me laugh and the person she told seemed completely taken aback by the label. I must admit calling yourself a goldfish did seem a bit odd… but I knew exactly where the woman was coming from.

Are our World views skewed beyond reason?

We live in a world which has somehow lost its way. The human race is no longer a single entity. Definitions have been blurred, removed, or added to fit in with political correctness.

Is it still the human race? Well, I know of one goldfish that is walking around.

When it becomes a standard policy that we can define ourselves by any label we want and can take a person to court for not agreeing with our own self-labelling then the world has certainly become skewed.

We shouldn’t need to define ourselves, our gender, what we do or who we are. Those are labels that at the end of the day do nothing for us.

Do you fit in with the grey-faced masses or are you…well you?

They are just labels, labels that are superfluous to who we actually are.
Maybe one day you should label yourself as a unicorn…see what kind of reaction that gets.

Have you asked yourself who you are recently?

Have you defined who and what you are?

Remember, the labels you assign yourself should be for you, not for the people who don’t care what or who you really are.

Randomising your thoughts that make no sense.

Ever had one of those days when your mind is just filled with random thoughts?

Thoughts that when you try to work them out make no sense whatsoever?

Random thoughts often run through my mind…I have tried to catch them but I get out of breath and then I yawn, tiredness sets in and my mind wanders onto other things. More running, ideas, thoughts, plans, blog ideas and topics and then surprise the random thoughts attack again like ninjas creeping up on you.

So what are these random thoughts?

They aren’t just ordinary thoughts of a random nature. No that’s far too easy, these are the random thoughts of the superego, that creature that likes to bring on thoughts of self-doubt, negativity and depression.

“We live in a world where we are limited by beliefs, opinions, and attitudes laid down by other people. Once these limited views take hold in our minds, we suddenly become confined in our lives. “

Ask yourself how did these thoughts get into my head?

Always question thoughts and ideas, suggestions that could make you succeed.

These are the random thoughts that make you pick one number either way of the winning lottery line.

You already had the numbers set in your mind…but as you come to put that black mark on those numbers …bam it creeps in, 13 not 14, 40 not 41 …the night of the draw you are happy because you know and you feel you’ve won the jackpot.

Millions of pounds will be winging their way to your bank account on Monday woohoo…

Is that laughter you hear?

You stare in amazement at the numbers…14, and 41 you cry as you look at your original lines, so carefully written out, and then you look at your ticket…you cry some more.

The random thought laughs even louder…raises its fist and sings “Weeee are the champions”

Ever wondered if your random thoughts aren’t random at all but have been placed there by someone years back to make you doubt yourself?

To limit your belief in yourself, and to label yourself as something you truly aren’t.

Going with the flow …being who you want to be!

Sometimes, it is best to go with the flow, and seek something that is completely different to the norm…but never let the random thoughts steer you away from your dreams…never doubt yourself and never let self-limiting beliefs prevent you from achieving your desires and goals.

Be a unicorn…in a field of horses.
